What LeaveSafe does
LeaveSafe helps you remember what you checked before leaving a cabin, boat, caravan, RV, or second home. You keep checklists, run arrival and departure checks, add optional photos and notes, and can invite guests or family helpers with a link when you choose to share.
How LeaveSafe works
- Local first: Your places, checklists, own trips, notes, and most photos live on your phone until you share something.
- No email/password account: LeaveSafe does not ask you to create a username or password. When cloud features are used, Firebase Anonymous Authentication creates a random ID for that device or browser (a “bracelet,” not a login you type).
- Optional cloud sharing: Guest stays, co-admin / family invites, and the owner web app use Google Firebase (Firestore and Storage) so invite links can work across phones and browsers.
- No GPS tracking: LeaveSafe does not track your physical location with GPS.
Data stored on your device
LeaveSafe stores app data locally in private app storage, including:
- place names and types you add (for example a cabin name)
- checklist items and whether they were checked or skipped
- optional trip notes and per-item comments
- optional photos you take for checklist items
- trip history and completion status
- app preferences such as appearance
- bindings that connect a local place to a shared cabin or guest stay when you use invite links
Android backup may include this local data in your device backup if backup is enabled on the phone. Uninstalling the app or clearing storage removes the local data from that device.
Data when you use sharing (Firebase)
If you create or open a share invite, LeaveSafe may store in Firebase:
- anonymous user IDs for devices/browsers that join a cabin or stay
- shared cabin/location profile and checklists for co-admins
- guest stay invites, progress, and finished guest reports
- optional guest proof photos uploaded for a stay
- owner arrival/departure sessions you run in the web app
Access is controlled by secret invite links and those anonymous IDs — not by email login. Signing out of the web app ends that browser’s access; you need a new “Open on web” or family invite to get that browser back in. Data is not deleted just because you sign out.
Firebase is provided by Google. Google’s privacy policy applies to that processing: policies.google.com/privacy.
Advertising
The free Android app may show banner ads using Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use device or other IDs (including the advertising ID) and app interaction data to show and measure ads. This is separate from your checklists and trip notes — we do not sell your checklist content, photos, or trip reports to advertisers.
AdMob may show a consent message where required (for example in the EEA/UK). Google’s advertising and privacy terms apply to AdMob. You can also reset or limit the advertising ID in your device settings.
Permissions
- Camera: optional. Used only if you choose to take a photo for a checklist item.
- Notifications: optional. Used for trip reminders and guest-report alerts.
- Internet: used for sharing, syncing shared places, uploading guest photos, and loading ads.
- Advertising ID: used by AdMob for ads on the free Android app.
LeaveSafe does not request contacts, microphone, or precise location.
Sharing you start yourself
You can share a checklist or trip report with the Android share sheet (SMS, email, etc.). SimpDev does not receive that message. Whoever you send it to will see what you shared.
Guest stay links let a borrower run one trip (app or browser). They do not get permanent access to your places.
Family / co-admin links let helpers manage a place with you (checklists, guests, reports). Invite links usually expire within about 48 hours if unused.
Open on web is a short-lived link (about 2 hours) so you can open a place in a browser — not for guests.

Purchases
Optional paid features may be offered later through Google Play. SimpDev does not receive your payment card details. Google’s privacy policy applies to Play purchases.
Children’s privacy
LeaveSafe is not directed at children under 13. The app does not provide public profiles, social feeds, chat, or child accounts.
Data sharing and selling
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your checklists, photos, or trip notes to build third-party advertising profiles. We share limited technical data with Google for Firebase (when you use sharing) and AdMob (ads), as described above.
Data retention
- On the phone: until you delete it, clear app storage, or uninstall.
- Unused guest invites: typically about 30 days.
- Guest proof photos in the cloud: about 30 days after the trip is completed, unless an owner/co-admin deletes them sooner. Owners can also save photos to the phone from the guest report.
- Shared cabin / report records: may remain longer while the shared place exists; you can request deletion (see below).

In short:
- delete locations, trips, or photos in the app, and/or
- clear app storage or uninstall to remove local data, and/or
- email support@simpdev.no to request deletion of shared cloud data
Copies you already sent to someone else (SMS, email, etc.) cannot be recalled from LeaveSafe.
Security
Local data uses Android private app storage. Shared data is sent to Firebase over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Invite links are long and secret — treat them like house keys.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top reflects the latest version.
